 Galaxy International School Uganda is looking for:

  • International Teacher, Year 5 and 6 English Teacher/Year 6 Class Teacher
  • ESL Teacher               

About: Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) is a co-educational school located in Lubowa, the school provides international education to students between 2 and 19 years of age. From kindergarten to year 13 students are taught using student-centered methods. Emphasis is on the development of the whole person by producing creative, self-reliant, respectful and moral individuals who will build a better world for us all.

Position: International Teacher, Year 5 and 6 English Teacher/Year 6 Class Teacher

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach English to two sections of Year 5 pupils and ensure that planning, preparation, recording assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs
  • Teach English to two sections of Year 6 pupils and ensure that planning, preparation, recording assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs. Also ensure that Year 6 students are preparing for their Cambridge exams in April
  • Maintain position of Classroom Teacher to one class of Year 6 pupils, which includes considering such things as homeroom time, homework diaries, homework books, assemblies, the class of DEAR Time and the class of PSHE
  • Differentiate instruction within the classroom so that the curriculum can be accessed by all students, regardless of cultural or linguistic background
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the school’s behavior policy
  • Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Work in partnership with parents, caregivers in providing a high quality educational experience for all the children and report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils
  • Participate in meetings which relate to the school’s management, curriculum, administration or organization
  • Communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies
  • Participate in the appraisal system for the appraisal of their own performance & that of other teachers
  • Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Arts in Education preferred
  • Experience in primary education with a Cambridge background, teaching in an international school setting preferred

SKILLS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Energy, enthusiasm, stamina, patience, dedication and self-discipline
