The transition from Secondary 1 to Secondary 2 can be a daunting, yet very crucial period. It is the time when a student needs to make a final decision on what academic career path they wish to take with exposure to new disciplines.
The GISU year 9 career days on 31st May – 1st June 2018 organized by the Careers and Alumni committee were used to support the students before they can make an informed decision. The students were taken through sessions that included; Academic goal setting, Interest profiling, Making the right Career choice, University Choices, Guidance on University requirements, Work Ethics and Teamwork.
The evening of 1st June was the climax with our dear parents of Year 9 and Year 11, joining us for a Transition Careers evening which started with a presentation from a guest speaker (Parent) – with a topic: Focusing today’s child: The role of a Parent. Other discussions included the upcoming IGCSE and AS/A level options, and the 2018 – 2019 academic programmes. The evening ended with a teacher-parent discussion done over some refreshments
