It is important to be on time. Please plan your journey well to avoid the morning traffic jams in Kampala.
If you arrive late, please collect a late arrival card from the school office and give it to your child’s teacher.
We provide every child with a GISU-branded book bag, which should be used every day. These are used by teachers for communicating with parents. Students may also bring their own bags for carrying personal items.
Students must wear the correct uniform at all times, including correct PE kit for PE lessons. Black leather shoes should be worn for lessons and sports shoes for PE. Sandals are not permitted.
The school sends out a timetable to all students at the beginning of the year. This has details of all important events and should be referred to regularly.
Students should bring a nutritious snack and water bottle to school every day. Clean drinking water is provided.
Students should wear wide-brimmed hats for all outdoor activities. High factor sunscreen is also strongly recommended.
On swimming days, parents should pack a swimming costume, a towel and poolside footwear (flip-flops or crocs, etc). Girls’ swimwear should be one piece.
The lunch menu changes weekely and can be viewed on: www.gisu.ac.ug/lunch. Special diets (e.g. no beef, vegetarian) are catered for.
There are many school clubs such as, Swimming, Sports, Music and Drama. We encourage each student to belong to at least one club. Detailed information is sent to parents at the beginning of every term.
