About Galaxy International School Uganda
Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) is a co-educational school in Kampala, Uganda. The school provides international education (Cambridge International School) to students between 2.5 and 19 years of age. From Kindergarten to Year 13, students are taught using student-centered methods. Our school serves around 500 (five hundred) students from more than 40 different nations. The school has qualified and experienced staff from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and East Africa.
GISU is looking to hire dedicated professionals to join our team. Below are the vacancies available;
Job title: Learning support coordinator
Job summary: The Learning Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in an international school setting by leading a team of learning support specialists to enhance services for students with special education needs (SEN). As the coordinator, you will oversee the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals / personal learning assistants to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Reports to: Vice Principal

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Additional certifications in special education or learning support are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar role, with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership or coordination role.
- Strong knowledge and application of different learning needs and disabilities such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD, etc, as well as evidence-based interventions and instructional strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of special education principles, best practices, and evidence-based interventions for students with a range of learning needs in a multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with various learning support strategies, including differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and mentor a team of learning support specialists.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Understanding of assessment and evaluation procedures, including the ability to administer and interpret various assessments to inform instruction and IEP development.
