GISU’S DUKE OF EDINBURGH EXPEDITION – FORT PORTAL

Galaxy International School Uganda’s Bronze expedition was a huge success! Our GISU Duke of Edinburgh International Award Leaders took a team of 24 energetic students to Fort Portal in Western Uganda for their Adventurous Journey as a requirement for attaining the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. The expedition which started on 16th Feb and ended on 19th Feb was a true test of our students’ stamina and endurance in the 24 kilometers’ hike in the Rwenzori mountain ranges, Crater lakes and the Western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley. We savored the beautiful Scenery and also visited the Beautiful Palace of Tooro Kingdom. Our participants set up their own tents and the entire camp, built camp fires, cooked their own food; acquired a number of survival skills and learnt the importance of team work and resilience. Through this excursion, all our participants were able to meet the requirement of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program at Bronze Level. Our sincere gratitude to all our valiant participants for their commitment, cooperation, discipline and perseverance. We also wish to thank our parents for all their support and confidence in us; our Award leaders for chaperoning our participants; the Representatives from DofE, Uganda for guidance and support and to our School Administration for all support rendered to our gallant Participants.
