Rwanda Cultural Trip

The Rwanda Cultural Trip for the Year 7 to Year 9 students during the half term holiday between 14th and 17th October 2017 was a huge success!. The students had to endure a long but enjoyable road trip from GISU all the way via the Uganda-Rwanda Border at Katuna to Kigali on the first day with stop overs at the equator and Mbarara for lunch respectively.
On the second day the students left the pleasant Nobleza Hotel in Kigali for the Akagera National Park approximately 120 Km away where they managed to see numerous wild nature and shopped a few art crafts. The day ended with students shopping at the wonderful Kigali heights.
The third day was the most eventful. The students were taken to the famous Iby’lwacu Cultural Village in Musanze District to meet local people. Here they got a chance of learning about the rich culture of the inhabitants including protection of wild nature, clothing, hunting, medicine, making of weapons, marriage and kingship. They were also treated to well organized and joyous cultural dances. Back to Kigali the students passed by the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, the biggest there and here they managed to hear and see through guides, videos and posters what happened in 1994. It was a quick visit as most students could not stand what they heard and saw for long.
The day ended with students having a swim at the hotel, a 3D movie at century Cinema, Ice cream and more shopping at Kigali Heights.

On the last day it was a bitter goodbye to Kigali as the students boarded the bus back home to Kampala with stop overs at the border and Kabale town for lunch and a visit to lake Bunyonyi.
