The first ever GISU Spelling BEE Contest was a remarkable showdown on our School premises. It was a war of letters as our Junior and Senior Contestants tussled it out with the 25 familiar letters of the alphabet to spell unimaginable, unheard of words.
The competition attracted renowned spellers from Aga Khan National and International Schools, Acorns International School, Kabojja International School, Vienna College Namugongo Light Academy and Airforce Secondary School among others.
In the two Phase Contest (Written and Oral), the Contestants had to show case their listening skills and spelling genius while exuding confidence. The oral session- which was held in the afternoon in the GISU Auditorium was characterised by solemnity and tension as the top contenders reached out for gold.
At the end of the day, the top 40 contestants took home Certificates of participation and outstanding performance; gift packs for the t0p 20; while the top 3 dipped their hands in bullion bounty of Sh. 150,000/= and a bronze medal for the 3rd; Sh.250, 000/= and a Silver medal for the 2nd and Sh. 400,000/= and a Gold medal. Finally, it was great celebration for Light Academy, Galaxy International School and Oak International School.
Behold the battle lines are drawn for the next GISU Spelling BEE Contest, next Year.
